Most AI coding tools ask you to trade something away — your source code, your choice of model, or the ability to see exactly what changed. Gencode NG is our answer to that. It's a free, open-source VS Code extension built by AIdemic LLC that brings four AI modes into one transparent workflow you fully control.

Four modes, one editor

Autocomplete gives you ghost-text suggestions as you type. Chat opens a sidebar for engineering questions and file explanations. Edit lets you highlight code and refactor it with natural language. Agent Mode takes on multi-step tasks — reading files, running commands, and managing complex edits across your repository.

Open by default

Everything ships MIT-licensed. Your configuration lives in a plain config.json or YAML file that you can read, version, and share. There is no hidden telemetry, no forced account, and no lock-in to a single vendor.
